Build teams that can think, challenge, decide and lead.
Skills intelligence, built on evidence of readiness.

Mike Vaughan, our founder and CEO, came to the question of how people learn to think from three directions: a master’s degree in cognitive neuroscience, and dual degrees in psychology and computer science. Put simply, how the brain learns, how people behave, and how software can scale both. He has written two books on the subject, The Thinking Effect and The End of Training, and continues to publish the frameworks our work is built on.
The research points consistently in one direction: judgment develops through practice, through feedback specific enough to change the next attempt, and through reflection, rather than through content consumption. We put that to work building custom decision simulations for Fortune 500 companies, work recognized with more than 50 industry awards.

The simulations mattered, but the more durable asset turned out to be the scoring behind them: rubrics developed alongside our clients, refined in the field, and applied to real decisions mapped to whichever thinking skills a given role calls for.
In 2023, The Regis Company launched SimGate, an AI-native skills intelligence platform, to make that scoring usable at scale. People work through consequential decisions in realistic scenarios, and their choices generate behavioral data showing how they think, across skills like critical thinking, systems thinking, curiosity, and judgment. The result is an evidence-based view of where a workforce is ready and where gaps remain, grounded in demonstrated performance rather than inferred signals. Completions do not prove readiness. Practice does.
